Abstract

To explore the relationship between physical properties and chemical components about flue-cured tobacco, six physical properties and seven normal chemical components of 92 flue-cured tobacco samples were detected and these data were analyzed by simple correlation analysis, canonical correlation analysis and path analysis. The results showed as follows: 1) value had significant negative correlation with total sugar and reducing sugar filling, and had significant extremely positive correlation with total nitrogen and chlorine; leaf thickness had significant extremely positive correlation with total alkaloid, total nitrogen and chlorine; had significant negative correlation with total sugar and reducing sugar; leaf density had significant extremely positive correlation with total alkaloid and total nitrogen, had significant extremely negative correlation with total sugar and reducing sugar; chlorine had extremely or significant extremely negative correlation with reducing sugar and smoldering time; tensile strength had extremely or significant negative correlation with total alkaloid, total nitrogen and chlorine, had significant extremely positive correlation with total sugar; equilibrium moisture content had significant extremely positive correlation with total sugar, had significant extremely positive correlation total alkaloid and reducing sugar. The results of canonical correlation analysis was consistent with the simple correlation analysis, and the canonical correlation coefficients of three pairs of canonical variables were 0. 817, 0. 538, 0. 524 respectively. 2) Total sugar, total alkaloid, reducing sugar, total nitrogen and chloride were closely related potassium and starch less with physical characteristics in routine chemical components.
