Abstract
- The article examines slasher films, a subgenre of horror films, from an academic perspective based on the theories of Carol J. Clover and Vera Dika. It discusses Clover's theories on the representation of gender and sexuality in slasher films as well as Dika's structuralist approach. The author goes on to cover the history of the genre starting with 1974's "Black Christmas" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
