Abstract
- The article focuses on the threat of livestock-associated Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) bacteria while mentioning the spread of LA-MRSA in the U.S. swine industry. Topics include role of animals in spreading MRSA according to a discovery in Netherlands in 2004, presence of ST398 MRSA in the nasal swabs of livestock and veterinarians in the U.S. without creating infection, and results of a study in the University of Minnesota showing less MRSA's evidence found in the U.S.
