REDESIGNING THE WATER ROCKET.

The article presents activities for a water rocket-design challenge, in the context of a multiphase engineering-design challenge, developed to frame physical-science concepts for seventh- and eighth-grade classrooms. The four phases discussed include rocket design drawing to assess student knowledge and establish engineering design performance parameters, investigation of projectile attributes affecting aerodynamics, and creation of design prototype to learn role of data in engineering design.
