Abstract

The article focuses on two reports released by the U.S. Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) conducted for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate which shows that a low-carbon energy system can help reduce trillions of dollars that could be used in better economic growth. The report compares the costs of low-carbon electricity with the current system, compares risk of losses in the financial value of existing fossil fuel assets and states that governments faces stranding risk.
