Abstract
- This paper intends to ascertain the export performance and it's marketing opportunities of ready-made garment products from Malaysia using the Constant Market Share (CMS) and Shift-Share analysis. The CMS results suggest that export gain of Malaysia is largely attributed to the world trade effect as well as her competitiveness effect. The CMS analysis also depicts that the competitiveness effect is subsequently improved in general during the period I and III. The findings of the ShiftShare analysis indicate that, the market opportunities for the export of garment products of Malaysia are mainly offered by USA followed by EU markets, but in addition to this the Asian countries have also offered better market opportunities to Malaysia.
