Abstract

The Iranian decision to go nuclear was not a surprise for the US, since it sponsored its advent in the 1950s under the Shah. What was surprising for Washington and for the world, was the Iranian ability to secure the secrecy of the program; the more so since the covertness continues into nowadays, as well. The true power of the Iranian regime is its ability to conceal its intentions and its acts; the United States does see beyond them but is increasingly pressured and awake in front of the increasing Iranian threat.
