Abstract

The prevalence of pediculosis in caprines was analysed during a longitudinal survey. A total of 291 indigenous goats were thoroughly screened to detect the louse infestation. The lice were sampled In 70% ethanol. The blood sucking louse Linognathus africanus was encountered in 144 (49.98%) goats. However only one of the goats showed mixed infestation with Bovicoia caprae. All the diseased and in contact animals were treated with Ivermectin in scheduled doses and found effective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
