"ON THE BASIS OF SEX": USING TITLE IX TO PROTECT TRANSGENDER STUDENTS FROM DISCRIMINATION IN EDUCATION.

The article provides a brief overview of Title IX, a federal law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in federally-funded schools in the U.S. Topics discussed include the judicial and regulatory decision interpreting sex discrimination for purpose of Title VII, cases which courts have considered Title IX's applicability to cases involving transgender plaintiffs and the application of the law to transgender discrimination context that have not yet been considered by the courts.
