Abstract

The article focuses on the use of animal shaped accessories for holding handwork tools, like pincushions, tape measures and thimble holders, in sewing room. It says that Franz Xaver Bergman was one of the famous artists who created such accessories with Oriental and animal subjects. It says that fish and crocodiles shapes were used for holding implements, while bird shapes were generally designed to serve as pincushions.
