Abstract
- The article discusses the U.S. Captain of First Dragoon Regiment Nathan Boone's role in the social conflict among the Cherokee Indians of 1845 and 1846, which is referred to as the Cherokee Disturbances. The Cherokee Nation leader John Ross and his faction's relationship with the Treaty Faction of Cherokee Indians, who illegally signed the 1835 New Echota Treaty with the U.S. government, is discussed. The role that the murder of Cherokees played in the Cherokee Disturbances is also discussed.
