Abstract

The article reports on the western stock of North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena japonica) population diminishing as it faces serious danger from fishing gear entanglement and ship collisions and its sightings in the far southeast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. North Atlantic right whales feed on mainly calanoid copepods and other small invertebrates, such as krill.
