Abstract

The article focuses on the social visibility doctrine of the U.S Board of Immigration Appeals' (BIA) on the issue of human trafficking. Topics discussed include the U.N Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, especially women and children, immutable characteristic test adopted by the BIA and the U.S asylum law. Other topics include the circuit split between immutable characteristic and social visibility, problems of victims of human trafficking and immigration laws.
