Abstract

Two 2D 3d-4f heterometallic coordination polymers, [ Ln<subscript>2</subscript>Cu<subscript>4</subscript>Br<subscript>3</subscript>(IN)<subscript>6</subscript>(OH)(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)<subscript>4</subscript>] <subscript>n</subscript> [ Ln = Ho ( 1) and Yb ( 2), HIN = isonicotinic acid], were synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of Ln<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>3</subscript>, CuBr<subscript>2</subscript>, and HIN with HNO<subscript>3</subscript>, and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, PXRD, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analyses revealed that 1 and 2 are isostructural and have a 2D structure, which consists [Cu<subscript>4</subscript>Br<subscript>3</subscript>] <subscript>n</subscript><superscript>n</superscript><superscript>+</superscript> chains linked by dinuclear [ Ln<subscript>2</subscript>(IN)<subscript>6</subscript>(OH)]<superscript>-</superscript> clusters. Additionally, the thermogravimetric analysis and luminescent properties of 1 were investigated and discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
