Abstract

The article looks into the opportunities for business investments in Egypt. It explains the inflow of Arab oil money into Egypt via U.S. banks and their U.S. industrial clients that serve as middlemen and as suppliers of technology. Also discussed is the role of the enterprising middle class in increasing the productivity of factories in Egypt, the link between socialism and luxury, and how U.S. managers are channeling Arab money and western technology into Egypt through joint ventures.
