Abstract
- The article discusses the "Wipers Times," a satirical and humorous newspaper published during the First World War by British soldiers stationed in Ypres, Belgium. The author notes that the newspaper, which included poems, literary parodies, fake advertisements and editorials, and mock war journalism, helped the soldiers confront and deal with the horrors of war. The author pays particular focus to the role played by the newspaper's editor, Captain Fred Roberts.
