Abstract

Biaxial melt-drawing produces a high-performance poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) membrane with excellent mechanical properties and superior transparency. Unique two-step molding gives the better adhesion between the PTFE powder materials even with ultra-high molecular weight of 10<superscript>7</superscript>. Such void-free film can be successfully biaxially drawn in the molten state. The resultant membrane exhibits high tensile strength of 120MPa and high transparency of 8.5% haze.
