Abstract

Presents information on the standard of schools in Great Britain. Quality of the educational system; Lack of educational materials and books in junior classrooms; Importance of effective student-teacher relations to enhance the learning of the children; Statement that the Plowden Report described a survey, which said that as children went from the infant to the junior level there is a narrowing of opportunities, a tendency toward regimentation, and a substitution of group or even class teaching for individual work; Reason for the slowness of change in junior schools; Fact that inadequate funds and staff will check the progress of a reform that has made such impressive gains in the infant schools; Discussion of the relationship of teachers with their students.
