Abstract
- The article presents a study which suggests that high distress (HD) individuals were not able to recover after the interpersonal speech task (ST) because of sustained sympathetic activity and reduced cardiovagal modulation. It mentions that distress may possibly have increased cardiovascular risk by attenuating vagal reactivation and evoking sympathetic stimulation during the recovery period after stress. Studies assessing cardiovascular autonomic modulation is also cited.
