Abstract

In this article the authors question whether the actions taken by seven Canadian provinces to limit plastic bag use would make good public policy in 2013. Topics discussed include the arguments against the use of plastic grocery bag, namely, plastic bags would pollute air and water, would create litter problem and would clog lakes, rivers and oceans, the threat posed by alternatives like trendy cloth bags, and the economic impacts of plastic bag ban.
