Abstract

The article discusses the possibility of a jobsite welding spark igniting fires that destroyed multi-unit housing structures under construction in Houston, Texas and in San Francisco, California in March 2014. It stresses that windy days call for a fire watcher along with a welder to monitor spark distances. It adds that the fire watch should remain in the job site at least 30 minutes after welding as a fire may ignite after workers have gone home.
