Abstract

The article presents a study which investigates the association between Native American ancestry (NAA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) among Costa Ricans. According to the study, NAA is positively associated with the forced expiratory volume (FEV) but inversely associated with COPD. The effects of NNAA on smoking behavior is outlined.
