Abstract
- The article reports on the status of the U.S. savings and loan industry as of 1984. Topics discussed include difference between commercial banks and savings institutions, challenges facing thrift institutions in terms of attracting depositors and strategies used by Financial Corp. of America (FCA) to make money in the mortgage industry. Also discussed are the top savings and loan institutions as of 1984 in terms of asset growth, deposit growth and earnings growth.
