Abstract
- The magnetic and dielectric properties of a YMnCoO ceramic have been investigated. The x-ray diffraction pattern shows that the sample has the monoclinic structure (space group P2/ n). Magnetic measurements show that YMnCoO becomes ferromagnetic (FM) below T ~75 K. More importantly, the temperature dependence of magnetization (zero field cooled and field cooled behavior) and the M(H) behavior are indicative of spin-glass-like behavior of YMnCoO, which may be caused by competition between the FM and antiferromagnetic interaction. Dielectric relaxor behavior at low temperature is also observed; this arises from dipolar effects associated with the charge ordering of Co and Mn. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
