Abstract
- The article presents information on recent events in the United States. The Orenthal J. Simpson trial verdict has re-exposed the deep vein of racism and white supremacy in the Los Angeles Police Department. This verdict proves again that money can buy acquittals, and that wealthy defendants of any race can pay for lawyers skilled enough to evoke liberating doubt. W.H. "Ping" Ferry, who died recently at 84, was a friend of "The Nation." He was also a friend of peace and the dispossessed. Despite the public opposition to atomic testing in the Pacific, the Bill Clinton Administration has allowed French military DC-8s en route to Polynesia to stop over at Los Angeles International Airport.
