Abstract

The article outlines a technique to improve the teaching of qualitative skills, applying business world practices to business school pedagogy. The technique involves the student in a draft-feedback-redo process, by using the midterm paper as the first draft of the term final. According to the authors, this two-draft technique is superior to traditional single-shot systems, because it changes the focus of written assignments from testing to teaching, encourages and rewards improvement, emphasizes form as well as content, and teaches the student to be a better writer.
