Abstract

The article relates how Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori and novelist-turned-politician Mario Vargas Llosa played a role in Peru's political system, after the tumultuous presidency of Alan Garcia. It describes the nature of the country's political and economic system until 1987. By the late 1980s, Vargas Llosa became active in the field of politics in an aim to help stabilize his country. Fujimori on the other hand, was credited with restoring macroeconomic stability to the country. His economic policy is always considered as effective.
