Abstract

This paper ascertains some of the key drivers of knowledge sharing as illustrated with the help of survey findings from Indian Industry. It demonstrates a number of practical tools HR professionals can utilize to inculcate knowledge sharing within their organizations. The purpose of this research study is to examine how knowledge is shared among knowledge workers within the Indian industry, also whether creating an environment that encourages and supports knowledge sharing among knowledge workers provides an organization with competitive advantage. The present study also illustrates the innovative approach adopted for knowledge sharing in Indian industry and public sector. Qualitative and quantitative studies on knowledge management are reviewed to uncover the manifestation of knowledge sharing, and reveal its antecedents and consequences. The findings show that the level of information and communication technology usage reflected a positive effect on knowledge sharing behavior. This practitioner oriented paper builds upon the survey findings and interviews of KM professionals which explores the knowledge sharing practices in Indian industry and integrates the findings with contemporary knowledge on human resource management.
