Effect of 8 weeks of selected aquatic aerobic training on cystatine C and some other cardiac risk factors in menopause women: a randomized clinical trial.

Abstract
- Background and aims: Cardiac diseases are the main cause of 50% of death during post menopause. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of water aerobic training on cystatine C and some other cardiac factors including triglyceride, cholesterol and lipoproteins in menopause women. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study, 30 menopause women voluntarily participated and were randomly divided into two groups of experiment (age ranges: 57.06 ± 5.71 Years old & BMI: 30.13 ±3.94 kg/m2) and control (age ranges: 58.40 ± 3.81 Years old& BMI: 27.92 ± 3.95 kg/m2). The both groups were homogenized based on age and BMI. The variables were measured before and after training sessions. Training sessions included aerobic exercise in water, 3 times a week by the intensity of 50 to 70 % of maximal heart rate while the control group did not participate in any regular exercise during the study. Data were analyzed using statistical method of covariance analysis. Result: Study findings indicated that cystatine C, cholesterol and lipoproteins significantly decreased after exercise but HDL significantly increased (P<0.05), although these changes were not significant in control group (P>0.05), but TG significantly reduced after the exercise in experimental group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results, aquatic aerobic exercise training could be useful for reducing some cardiac risk factors in menopause women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
