Abstract

The article focuses on harvesting stover from corn fields for conversion to commercial cellulosic ethanol for making renewable fuel from field residues. DuPont's cellulosic ethanol plant in Nevada, Iowa, and Poet-DSM Advanced Biofuels, Emmetsburg in Iowa are commercial cellulosic ethanol plants scheduled to begin making renewable fuels from residues. The benefits on soil of residues, residue harvest rates by the companies, and advantages of partially harvesting residues are mentioned.
