Abstract
- The article discusses engineering design in the U.S. elementary school classroom and misconceptions that teachers unfamiliar with engineering design may have and should avoid. Topics discussed include the inclusion of engineering design in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), suggested teaching strategies designed to correct misconceptions, and the difference between problem understanding and problem framing.
