Abstract

Writing a diploma paper is often regarded as the final step in group analytic training. Nevertheless, there are no common regulations or guidelines among the different European group analytic training institutes on this subject. In this article, we look at some of the formal and informal implications of writing a diploma paper with reference to our experiences at the Institute of Group Analysis, Norway. The purpose of writing a diploma paper is discussed, as well as the current guidelinesfor writing a diploma paper and the assessment procedures at IGA. We also suggest how candidates may be encouraged and stimulated to write. A writing seminar has improved the number of diploma papers submitted. Further discussion of this topic among the group analytic training institutions in Europe is recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
