The article discusses the history of Cretan, Spanish, Atlantic, and Port wine in England in the Middle Ages and early modern period. Topics discussed include the influence of political interventions, including free trade regions, customs, and trade monopolies, the practices of merchants in relation to political trade interventions, and the history of fraud in the wine trade.
