Abstract

The article describes how Dexter Corp. grew over the course of two centuries from a sawmill to a $1 billion specialty materials company. The article provides reasons behind the sporadic but solid growth of the company. Then the article provides insights into various marketing strategies the firm adopted for its growth over the years. Finally, some of Dexter's important contracts are overviewed. Some of them are those for Boeing and American National Can, the largest U.S. can manufacturer.
