Abstract
- The article presents information on people in California. Today in California 350,000 people improved their inner selves. Three million improved their outer ones. The Karuk Tribe health center got a Pacific Bell Centrex system and a promise to maintain it, at no extra cost. Call it an emerging statewide consciousness. So what if it comes in the form of slick commercials-these days Californians take their comfort where they can get it. Surely that's a big reason for the U.S. President Bill Clinton's visit to this state last month was such a smashing success. White House image wizards can claim all the credit they want for brilliant stage-managing.
