Abstract

This article focuses on the disclosure of covert operations by the German security agency Komitet Gosudarstvennoi Bezopasnosti (KGB) in Greece during the 1980s. According to Viktor P. Gundarev, a former deputy director of the KGB mission, the aim of the KGB program was to spoil U.S.-Greek military relations. One of those individuals who were discredited by the Soviets for inconveniencing them was anti-socialist Constantine Mitsotakis. The KGB proliferated disinformation about him, presenting him as an incapable politician. Companies which conducted commercial activity with Soviet support included Vek, EnerVek and TechnoVek.
