Abstract

The article focuses on the removal of cursive writing in the school curriculum in Canada. The government leaders in Ontario and Quebec have pulled cursive as a learning expectation from the curriculum. For nurse Cheryl Lavoie, it is wrong that cursive writing has been taken out of the curriculum. She adds that writing still happens and needs to be taught and understood. Research revealed that kids who practised handwriting used more words and expressed more ideas than they did using a keyboard.
