Abstract
- The article features hotel industry pioneer Ralph Hitz, who had been chosen to head a company formed in 1932 which acquired the Book-Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, Michigan. It discusses how Hitz successfully managed Hotel Gibson in Cincinnati, Ohio and Hotel New Yorker in New York City, the customer service and marketing practices which he started, such as the delivery each morning of home town papers to each guest, and Hitz's personality and character.
