Abstract
- In this paper is analyzed, based on some theoretical an experimental study, the possibility to create in a column filter the reaction space, through repeated cycles of infiltration and capitation, similar to ground conditions and as can be obtained in the vicinity of underground wells (in situ). According to this idea, this paper presents the results obtained in a laboratory column filter (horizontal) especially designed for this purpose. This installation it was built in Timisoara, by S.C. Aquatim S.A. helping, inside of the water treatment plant no.1. The classical methods of iron removal from groundwater, even those using filtration technologies, such as the latest membrane technology, are an intense and permanent source of environmental pollution caused by by-products of iron removal. Alternative methods of iron removal in situ, using cyclic alternating infiltration and capitation (thus forming a reaction space), transfer secondary products into the underground, where their volume is greatly reduced, becoming almost negligible even after decades of operation, thus reducing environmental pollution completely [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
