Abstract
- The article analyzes what the transit lines need most. Factors are cited that are viewed to determine the capability of railways to survive the competition with automobiles. The measures being taken to meet public requirement for fast, safe and comfortable service are highlighted including faster schedules and investments in equipment and facilities. Credit is given to electric railways for drawing compensation for additional capital investments and for securing improved community cooperation.
