Abstract

The article presents a speech by Massachusetts Senator John W. Weeks, delivered at the U.S. Congress in 1918, in which he exhorted the Congress to appoint a Reconstruction Committee that will institute proper action to fortify the nation against impending national and international developments. Weeks urges the government to protect war workers and to resume construction of necessary public works. He tackles the labor situation in the country and the issue of trusts and combinations.
