Abstract

The author presents an analysis of the U.S. stock market as of November 1953. The Dow-Jones industrial stock average's recovery from its mid-September 1953 low is noted. Decline in stock prices is driven by anticipation for a business recession. Oil stocks are cited as the stars of 1951-52. Cited by the article as attractive oil stocks are Atlantic Refining, Gulf Oil, and Ohio Oil.
