Abstract

The article presents the hydroacoustic signals of iceberg A53a as it disintegrated. The authors used an array of underwater hydrophones deployed in the Scotia Sea and Bransfield Strait off Antarctica to record the sound of the iceberg's disintegration. The importance of continued acoustic monitoring of the breakup of Antarctic ice shelves is cited.
