Abstract

The effect of metronidazole, at a dose of 1.2 g daily, on theophylline disposition was studied in 10 healthy adult volunteers. Neither theophylline half-life, volume of distribution nor total body clearance was altered by the anti-microbial. It is concluded that metronidazole does not impair theophylline metabolism despite the fact that it is a substituted imidazole. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
