Abstract

The article discusses the history of the German political science and foreign policy periodical "Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik," established in 1956. The author details the origins of the journal in the intellectual opposition to the policies of West German chancellor Konrad Adenauer in the 1950s, its evolution into a journal associated with the New Left and the Deutsche Kommunistische Partei (German Communist Party, DKP), and its move to an independent, self-publishing business model after German unification in 1989. He also mentions the coverage of such topics as capitalism, socialism, and the Eurozone crisis, the journal's website, and its editorial board, which includes social scientists Jürgen Habermas, Peter Bofinger, and Wolfgang Streeck.
