Abstract

The article explains the terms federal funds and Garvin, Bantel. Federal funds are said to be the excess balances of the member banks of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks FRB and represent ready cash to borrowers. These borrowers reportedly consist of member banks who find these funds cheaper than borrowing from the FRB for use in adjusting their reserve positions. The most important clearing house which reportedly serves 200 of the largest U.S. banks is said to be Garvin, Bentel.
