Abstract

The article presents a study which examined the epidemiology of Staphylococcus aureus vaginal colonization in pregnant women who are either methicillin-sensitive or methicillin-resisitant to Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The women covered by the study received prenatal care at obstetrics clinics associated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital between February 2008 and June 2009. The effect of Staphylococcus aureus vaginal colonization on newborn infants is assessed.
