Abstract: The article presents news briefs about the chemical industry in the Americas as of September 30, 2013. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) chemical activity barometer (CAB) report predicted U.S. economic growth into 2015. French industrial gas firm Air Liquide announced a planned purchase of the air separation business of Altos Hornos de Mexico. Specialty chemical firm Albermarle plans to divide into two global business units (GBUs) in 2014: performance chemicals and catalyst solutions.
