Abstract
- The authors discuss aspects of the studies about the molecular infrastructure of snail-borne parasites. They state that nearly 10 million people in Thailand and Laos are infected with liver fluke Opisthorchis viverrini which are also considered as the major cause of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in Southeast Asia. They mention that the first reference transcriptome of the snail Bithynia siamensis goniomphalos as the host of O. viverrini was generated to provide a resource for molecular studies.
