Abstract

The article discusses the use technological advancements of the telephone in Montana. The article discusses businesses associated with the telephone such as the Montana Telephone Company, the Stuart, Cable City and Philipsburg Telegraph and Telephone Company, and the Rocky Mountain Bell Company. It also discusses how rural Montana residents utilized the telephone, party line systems, and the use of barbed-wire fences for transmitting.
